Lisa appears in and advises on general commercial and civil litigation matters, but particularly in two specialised practice areas.
Property law, land valuation disputes, compulsory acquisition and planning compensation
Lisa has significant experience in disputes that involve the valuation of land and other property rights. Lisa is regularly briefed in Supreme Court and VCAT matters concerning the compulsory acquisition of land (including leases and easements), together with claims for compensation for under the Planning and Environment Act and Major Transport Projects Facilitation Act. She acts for both acquiring authorities and claimants, and has particularly experience in complex financial loss claims.
Lisa appears and advises in ratings and land tax disputes and appeals, particularly in relation to commercial and industrial premises, agricultural land and development sites. She has acted for both valuation authorities and private landowners. She has appeared in a number of complex matters involving novel legal and valuation issues.
Lisa acts for landlords, tenants and determining valuers on rent determination disputes in commercial and retail leases. She also regularly advises on issues concerning easements and restrictive covenants.
Lisa is a member of the Supreme Court Valuation and Compensation List Users Group, and the VCAT Land Valuation Stakeholders Group. She is also recognised in Doyles' Guide as a leading Victorian planning and environment silk.
Professional negligence, regulation and discipline
Lisa has extensive experience appearing in and advising on professional negligence claims and disciplinary prosecutions, both in the state superior courts and in the VCAT Legal Practice and Review and Regulation Lists.
Lisa has been briefed by professional liability insurers, professional regulators (including the Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner), lawyers and law practices, accountants, and medical and allied health professionals.
She has particular experience in advising on legal issues relating to lawyers and law practices, including state and national regulatory matters, professional ethics, costs and trust accounting issues, and external supervision, management and receiverships.
Lisa is a member of the Victorian Legal Admissions Committee, and the Legal Costs Committee. She is also a member of the Victorian Bar Ethics Committee.
