Experience

Ian came to the Bar in 1984 from a personal injuries and industrial law background. He took silk in 2019.

In 2008 he obtained a Master of Laws in Workplace and Employment law.

In recent years Ian has acted for and advised clients in all types of public and product liability claims, transport and workplace accidents, statutory compensation, insurance, coronial inquests and undertaken confidential government investigations.

Ian regularly appears in the County Court and Supreme Court in jury trials and causes, and from time to time in the Court of Appeal.

Ian is happy to provide written Advice in relation to complex matters as required.

For the past 4 years Ian has been the President of the Compensation Law Bar Association, and is an active member of the Common Law Bar Association.

For the last 16 years Ian has been a co-editor of the leading publication on personal injuries in Victoria, "Accident Compensation Victoria" published by Lexis Nexus.
