The clerks are taking phone calls and answering emails as per usual.

As we are all well aware, most of our courts and tribunals have closed their doors for what could be as long as 12 months, with unclear on-going provision for hearings. Notwithstanding this shutdown there are opportunities for the Victorian Bar to supply advanced ADR services to all solicitors, private and corporate, and their clients.

For instance, Devers List has available for engagement a former High Court Justice, a former Supreme Court Chief Justice, a former Justice of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, a former Justice of the Family Court and many amazingly talented and versatile silks. These experienced lawyers are able to provide Private Adjudication, Expert Evaluation, Arbitration and Mediation to assist you to assist your clients to finalise their disputes using any of these options.

There are many venues in and around Melbourne, your offices, our mediation rooms and possibly the option to hire courts in the now more or less empty County Court. Also, where suitable, there are opportunities to use online services like Microsoft Teams, Blue Jeans, Zoom, Skype and other applications.

We are ready to meet the market as far as costs for these services and build a strong and versatile system that will assist all to assist their clients in circumstances where many clients would be severely impeded in finalising their disputes by reason of the current lack of access to our courts.

In short, there are flexible options as to venue, fixed costs, choices as to dates, times and structure as far as online directions etc, prior to the event.

If you have any enquiries, email and we will discuss options and offer solutions.
