corporations, insolvency, property, equity, administrative law, and statutory interpretation.
Examples of Jeremy's recent experience:
- commercial disputes / equity: acting for a purchaser of land seeking to enforce a "best endeavours" obligation, including obtaining an
interlocutory injunction and
a final order for specific performance in
the Supreme Court of Victoria (led by N Pane QC);
- construction & infrastructure: large-scale disputes involving arbitrations (both domestic and International Chamber of Commerce) and
litigation, including acting for a contractor in a domestic arbitration in respect of a 500km steel welded gas pipeline project in Queensland (led by D Jackson QC and G McArthur QC), acting for a contractor in an ICC arbitration in respect of a major infrastructure project
in Queensland (led by N Pane QC) and acting for an owner in a domestic arbitration in respect of utility infrastructure in Western
Australia (led by J Twigg QC);
- insurance / professional negligence: acting for building surveyors (various proceedings settled during hearings), and an insurance broker
in respect of a claim after a fire;
- administrative law: successful merits review against
a regulator in the Commonwealth AAT.
Jeremy is ranked in Doyles Guide 2017 (peer reviewed) as a Leading Construction & Infrastructure Barrister (Victoria).
He was also ranked in 2015 and 2016.
Jeremy's contributions to the Commercial Bar Association of Victoria have been published on topics such as recent cases on insurance,
penalties, and knowing receipt.
