Sophie practices in a broad range of commercial litigation matters involving banking and finance, bankruptcy, insolvency and securities. She also accepts
briefs in employment and industrial law as well as family and de facto law.
Prior to joining the Bar Sophie worked for four years as a solicitor at Robertson Hyetts in Bendigo. Her work in the area of commercial litigation was extensive and included disputes relating to contractual matters, banking and finance, securities, bankruptcy, insolvency as well as employment and industrial law. As a solicitor, she appeared regularly as an advocate in hearings before courts in Victoria as well as interstate.
Sophie was also an Assistant Registrar at the Commercial Court of the Supreme Court of Victoria working under the supervision of Justice Hargrave and Justice Judd. At the Supreme Court she was responsible for the management of numerous proceedings involving the Great Southern Group and Timbercorp Finance Pty Ltd (In Liquidation).
Sophie was also an Associate to the Honourable Justices Nahum Mushin, Her Excellency Governor of Victoria Linda Dessau AM and the Honourable Michael Watt at the Family Court of Australia. She completed her legal traineeship at Maurice Blackburn where she worked on personal injury disputes involving workcover and transport accidents.
She speaks fluent French and holds a Bachelor or Arts and Laws (with Honours). Sophie is reading with Robert Heath and her Senior Mentor is Stewart Anderson QC.
