Astrid has a broad practice incorporating commercial law, public and government law, and criminal law matters.
Astrid has a particular interest in competition and consumer law, regulatory matters, intellectual property, administrative law, customs law, criminal law, debt and insolvency.

Prior to commencing at the Bar, Astrid was a Senior Lawyer with the Australian Government Solicitor (AGS) litigation group acting for Commonwealth agencies in the areas of competition and consumer law, customs and tariff law, trade marks, regulatory enforcement and insolvency. As a solicitor, Astrid conducted proceedings in all courts, however most often in proceedings in the Federal Court relating to misleading and deceptive conduct, unconscionable conduct, and product safety; and appearing in Customs prosecutions in the County and Magistrates' Courts.
Astrid spent a significant period of time on secondment within in-house legal teams at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in the mergers branch, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) in the debt litigation section, and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) Oil-For-Food Taskforce.
From 2006 to 2008, Astrid was a Judge's Associate to the Hon. Justice Bongiorno at the Supreme Court of Victoria, where his Honour sat in the common law division, commercial and equity division, criminal division and the Court of Appeal.
Astrid has also worked with criminal law Solicitor Advocate, Brendan Wilkinson in serious criminal trials; and spent a year in Bogotá, Colombia working for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on the development of human trafficking legislation and policy reform.
Astrid has a special interest in women's development and interaction within the law. Astrid is a former Convenor of the Victorian Women Lawyers Association, and is a member of the Law Council of Australia's Equalising Opportunities in the Law Committee and the LIV Diversity Taskforce. Astrid also has a strong interest in animal law, and is the Vice-President of Lawyers for Animals.

Astrid speaks fluent Spanish, as well as conversational French and Tagalog (Filipino).
Astrid has a BA (History and Spanish) and an LLB both from the University of Melbourne.
