I have been a mediator for 20 years and a commercial litigation lawyer for 30 years.I now practice at the Victorian Bar exclusively as a mediator.
Having practised as a litigation lawyer for three decades in roles including as a corporate lawyer for a major bank, as a solicitor, as a barrister and as a court and tribunal decision-maker, I firmly believe that mediation is the best way to resolve civil disputes. I remain as enthusiastic about mediation as the day I started.
I have undertaken advanced mediation training with Harvard Negotiation Institute’s Program on Negotiation and also with Bond University’s Dispute Resolution Centre. I have been named as a leading mediator in Victoria in Doyles Guide each year that the list has been published and am accredited by the Victorian Bar as an advanced mediator.
In addition to my work as a mediator, I am a sessional member of the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal dealing with cases in its Civil and Human Rights Divisions.
In my roles with the Federal Court of Australia from 2001-2007 I undertook mediations in all major areas of the Court’s jurisdiction (including commercial and trade practices disputes, insolvency, workplace, native title and human rights cases) and trained and mentored new mediators.During this time I co-developed and delivered mediation skills training for the judiciary and legal profession in the South Pacific.
In the last 12 months I have mediated disputes relating to:
'Liability limited by a scheme approved under Professional Standards Legislation.'
