Nic K Chow (he/she) has a generalist commercial, public and common law practice, including a focus on matters raising cross-over between these areas.

Before joining the Bar, Nic was senior associate to Justices Osborn, Priest, Beach and McLeish in the Victorian Court of Appeal. She was previously the Class Action Coordinator for the Supreme Court of Victoria for two years; a role then akin to a specialised judge's associate. He was particularly involved in managing the Black Saturday bushfire class actions and Christmas Island class action.

Nic has worked at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in bilateral policy. She retains an Australian Government Negative Vetting 2 (NV2) security clearance and accepts briefs in security-related matters, including counter-terrorism.

Nic has taught administrative, constitutional and public law at Monash University.

He is a committee member of the Class Actions Committee of the Commercial Bar Association; and the Victorian Bar LGBTI Working Group.

  • R v Yucel (No 1) [2017] VSC 807: appeared for Victoria Police in a public interest immunity claim (led by Chris Tran)
  • Migration Agents Registration Authority v Frugtniet [2018] FCAFC 5: appeared on an appeal considering the application of the penalty privilege to non-judicial proceedings (led by Justin Wheelahan and Patrick Gordon)
  • Friends of Leadbeater's Possum Inc v VicForests [2018] FCA 178: appeared on the hearing of a separate question as to the interpretation of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cth) (led by Ian Waller QC and Hamish Redd)
  • Kamasaee v Commonwealth of Australia [2018] VSC 138: appeared for three group members on an application for late registration to participate in the settlement in the Manus Island class action
  • Datta Yoga Centre Australia Pty Ltd v Wyndham City Council [2018] VSC 353: appeared on a s 148 planning appeal (led by Juliet Forsyth)
