Elizabeth has a commercial practice, specialising in corporations law and trusts.
She has recently advised on and/or appeared in matters involving shareholder and partnership disputes, directors' duties, appointment and removal of directors, meetings, class rights, civil penalties, trusts, unit trusts, corporate insolvency, misleading conduct, and contractual and equitable remedies. Recent matters in which Elizabeth has appeared and which have proceeded to judgment are set out in her CV.
Before being called to the Bar, Elizabeth held the Sir Keith Aickin Chair of Company Law at Monash University and was a consultant in the corporate group at Ashurst in Melbourne. She is the author of Minority Shareholders’ Remedies, the co-author of Corporate Law (Third Edition 2013), and has taught subjects including Corporations Law, Corporate Governance and Directors’ Duties, Shareholders’ Remedies, Equity and Trusts at Melbourne and Monash Universities and continues to teach Shareholders’ Remedies in the LLM at Sydney University, where she is an Adjunct Professor.
Elizabeth is a member of the Admissions Committee of the Legal Services Council and of the Executive of the Business Law Section of the Law Council of Australia. She is also a member of that section’s Corporations Committee. Former roles include terms as a director of ASX Supervisory Review Pty Ltd, as an External Expert to the Law Department at the London School of Economics as a member of the Corporations and Markets Advisory Committee and its Legal Committee and of the Council of Legal Education.
